Established in 1994 to provide a safe and engaging space for children to spend their hours after school, and to develop their talents and interest in the arts, sports, foreign language and social clubs in an enjoyable environment where building positive relationships is a priority. The program is offered to students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The After-School Academy provides travel and performance experiences that enhance students’ cultural awareness and scope of possibilities. The program currently has 117 students enrolled.
The After School Program was the first of New Song Learning Center’s initiatives in the Sandtown-Winchester community. Famously named “After-3″ by Talmadge Bennett, the safe space created for young people and their families in the after school hours grew into what is now a full-day program offered by New Song Community Learning Center.
